Epiphany 5b

L       Why do you say "my way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God"? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary and his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:27-28) Let us confess our lack of trust in the Lord.

Silence for confession and reflection
L           Hallelujah!

C       How good it is to sing praises to our God! How pleasant it is to honor God with praise! (For) the Lord heals the brokenhearted (and) lifts up the lowly.  (Psalm 147:1, 3, 6)

L       The Lord gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless (so that) those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Epiphany 4b

L       The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10) Let us confess the ways we fail to practice the fear of the Lord.

Silence is kept for confession and reflection

L       Praise the Lord.

C       I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart (for) the works of his hands are faithful and jus and all his teachings are trustworthy. (Psalm 111:1, 7)

L       God sent redemption to his people and commanded his covenant forever. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:9, 10)

Epiphany 3b

L       Those of high degree are but a fleeting breath; those of low estate cannot be trusted. Placed on the scales together they weigh even less than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; in robbery take no empty pride; though wealth increase set not your heart upon it. (Psalm 65:9-10) Let us confess the ways we set our hearts on empty pride.

Time for confession and reflection

L       God alone is my rock and my salvation,

C       God is my deliverance and my honor; I shall never be shaken for God is my strong rock and my refuge. (Psalm 65:6-7)

L       Brothers and sisters, the appointed time has grown short; from now on…deal with the world as though you had no dealings with it for the present form of this world is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)

Epiphany 2b

L       …do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20) Let us confess the ways we fail to honor God with our whole being.

Silence for confession and reflection

L       O LORD, you have searched me out and have known me.

C       You know my sitting down and my rising up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You yourself created my inmost parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I will thank you because I am marvelously made. (Psalm 139:2, 14)

L         All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be dominated by anything. All who are united to the Lord become one spirit with him. (1 Corinthians 6:12, 17)

Time for confession and refection
