Pentecost 16a

P             What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not done in it? When I expected it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is a pleasant planting; the Lord expected justice, but saw bloodshed; righteousness, but heard a cry! (Isaiah 5:4, 7) Let us confess the ways in which we do not live as a pleasant planting of the Lord.

Silence for confession and reflection

P              Restore us, O God of hosts;

C             Turn to us and tend this vine; preserve what your right hand has planted. Let your face shine upon us, and we shall be saved. (Psalm 80:7, 14)

P             Let us press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus, not having a righteousness that comes from the law, but the righteousness from God based on faith in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:9, 14)
