Christmas 1b

L            But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. (Galatians 5:4-5) Let us confess the ways we fail to live as children of God.

Time for confession and reflection

L            I will greatly rejoice in the LORD

C       my whole being shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness... (Isaiah 61:10)

L            And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God. (Galatians 5:6-7)

Christmas Year B

L       See, your salvation comes…You shall be called, "The Holy People,      The Redeemed of the LORD"; and you shall be called, "Sought Out, and
Not Forsaken." (Isaiah 62:11-12) Let us confess the ways we fail to live as chosen people.

Time for confession and reflection

L       Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the honest of heart.

C       We will rejoice in the Lord and give thanks to God's holy name for you guard our lives and rescue us...

(Psalm 97:10-12)

L       …when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy... (Titus 3:4-5)

Advent 4b

L       (The Lord) scatters the proud in their conceit, casting down the mighty from their thrones and lifting up the lowly, filling the hungry with good things and sending the rich empty away. Let us confess the conceit that separates us from God. (Luke 1:51-53)

Silence for confession and reflection

L       You have come to the aid of your people.
C           My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for you have done great things for me, and holy is your name. (Luke 1:46, 47, 49, 54)

L                   You have mercy on those who fear you, from generation to generation to remember the promise of mercy. (Luke 1:50, 54) To God who is able to strengthen you to bring about the obedience of faith through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever! (Romans 16:26, 27)

Advent 3b

L          Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Let us confess the ways we fail to lives of rejoicing, prayer and thanksgiving

Time for confession and reflection

C          Restore our fortunes, O Lord (that) those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy (for) you have done great things for us, and we are glad indeed. (Psalm 126:3-5)

L          “….proclaim the year of the LORD's favor… to provide for those who mourn…to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. Isaiah 61:2, 3
