Trinity Year b

L           So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Romans 8:12-13) Let us confess the ways we continue to live according to the flesh.
Silence is kept for confession and reflection
L       …all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
C       (We) did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but we have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!" the Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…” (Romans 8:14-16)
L       “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Pentecost b

We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. (Romans 8:22, 23) Let us confess all that makes us groan inwardly.
Silence is kept for confession and reflection
L       Come Holy Spirit
C       Kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth. (Psalm 104:30)

L       the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)
