Pentecost 3b

L       …the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.(2 Corinthians 5:14-15) Let us confess the ways we continue to live for ourselves.

Silence is kept for confession and reflection

L       It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
C         to herald your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night; For you have made me glad by your acts. (Psalm 92:1-2)

L           From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; (for) if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

Pentecost 2b

L       "Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day… for we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16, 18) Let us confess the ways we continue to trust in the temporary.

Silence is kept for confession and reflection

L       Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;

C       O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. (Psalm 130:1-2)

L       If you were to keep watch over sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you is forgiveness. Wait for the Lord, for with the Lord there is steadfast love (and) plenteous redemption; (Psalm 130: 3-4, 7)
